Visit Resurrection

3 Things To Consider In Your Visit

  • If you haven’t done so already, come worship with us on a Sunday morning. We recommend coming a few times so the liturgy (the order and words of the service) can sink in and give you a better sense if Resurrection is the right church for you.

We meet at 10:00 AM every Sunday at Trailblazer Elementary:
    406 14th St NW, Charlottesville, VA 22903

  • Our pastors and leaders are accessible and eager to connect with you. We’d love meet you, hear your story, and answer any questions you may have about the church.

    Schedule a time here

  • Our welcome lunch is designed to help new and new-ish folks ask questions, meet others, and learn the ins and outs of our church. We host these gatherings once or twice a quarter, often right after Sunday service.

What is the worship style like at Resurrection?

Our worship is Jesus-centered and liturgical. Everything in our service — from the aesthetics to the dress of our pastors — is meant to draw us toward Christ. You'll see annotated notes in our worship bulletin that explain elements of the service, pointing out how what we see, say, and do can help us encounter Jesus together.

What's the vibe of your service?

Our worship is liturgical, and it's definitely not stuffy! We take Jesus seriously. Ourselves? Not so much. Our vibe is joyfully reverent without being unnecessarily somber. We think church should be reverent and fun — in the holiest and happiest sense. We're regular people — adults and kids — gathering to set our hope on the Triune God.

How will I know what to do during the service?

If Anglican worship is new to you, don't stress! Many regular members of our congregation are new to Anglican worship. Everything you need to know about the order of service is printed in your bulletin. You won't be singled out or called on to do anything during the worship service.

Who can receive communion?

We partake of communion every Sunday. You don't have to be Anglican or a member of Resurrection to receive communion. All baptized Christians are invited to receive holy communion at the appointed time during the service.

What if I don't want to take communion?

If you're not a baptized Christian or if you choose not to receive communion, we still invite you to come forward with everyone else to receive a brief blessing. To receive a blessing rather than communion, cross your forearms over your chest in an X pattern. You can also stay seated in your pew during communion, and no one will think it the least bit odd.

How will children participate in the service?

Children are vital to our worship — and they are free to be kids! Children are a big part of Resurrection, and we wouldn't have it any other way. Most Sundays from September to June, we offer children's nursery (6 months to 2 years) and children's chapel (ages 2 through 3rd grade) during a portion of the service. These children return to the service to participate in communion. Some kids stay in service with their families, wiggling and participating as they are able. To us, the sound and presence of children at church is a tangible sign of the kingdom.
